BACKGROUND

David Jack came up with an innovative idea for creating an application which would help users keep track of food products in the fridge. He wanted us to develop and integrate the application with iPhone so that users would be easily able to keep track of when a food product is opened as well as the date the food product must be used by. He also wanted a feature that would allow the user to get an automatic reminder of the shelf-life of the product.

CHALLENGE:

The client asked us to develop a barcode scanner to scan items that would tell the user the expiration date of the product. He also wanted a feature that would remind the user exactly when the food product was opened, recording it automatically in the application's calendar. It was a major challenge for us to integrate this unique application into the iPhone device and required extensive research and out-of-the-box ideas.

SOLUTIONS:

After exhaustive research, we created an application that has an engaging user interface. Through automation, it aids the user in maintaining the freshest product possible. Ease of use was the main criteria in designing the application. The user simply scans the item's barcode, and Fridge Police does the rest.

RESULTS:

  • We developed a user-friendly application which updates users on the status of their refrigerated food products.
  • Fridge Police sends an automatic user alert as the food's suggested expiration date approaches.
  • This application reminds users of when a product was opened.
