BACKGROUND

The project was about creating a web portal iwasthere.com with the concept of giving a place to the people where they can come and at free of cost share any of their experiences which have made impact on their lives or which are worth recalling for a life time. With the notion of launching a memorable portal like this on the memorable day, client has selected the day of American President Obama's Inauguration for its launch. The client has expected following features/services from us:

  • Member registration.
  • Back office database maintenance.
  • Photo and video capability.
  • Revenue generating ad space
  • Banner for the featured product.
  • Secondary promotional code at checkout.
  • Database exporting of blogs/stories to main site when ready.
  • PayPal shopping cart development.

The client's concept was to create a website which is powered by the people and which can be useful to the people.

 
CHALLENGE:

The project was started with the great zeal and swiftness as it was needed to be completed by 20th January, Inauguration day of Obama. To come up with the feature rich portal in a short time span had become the biggest challenge.

  • Moreover, to generate different reports for each and every individual distributor asked to search for a convenient solution.

Bronze coins at free that has become a question as pay pal does not accept the 0$ invoice while shipping charges are there and so a solution was needed for this.


SOLUTIONS:

It was the nimble and comprehensive efforts of our team that has brought the project towards completion. For the need of different reports generation for distributors, we had modified and customized Virtue Mart.

To resolve the issue for free delivery of coins, we added the ship charges in the invoice and removed it from the module that has now made it possible to offer free coins. By utilizing all the sources and advanced technologies, it has become plausible to cover up all the features that could add tint to the concept of the portal.


RESULTS:

The portal was plunged exact on the day of Obama's Inauguration with all the requirements and it got great praise from its initial time only. People started with sharing their experiences of visiting the inauguration of Obama via this portal. The special event for the client, the launch of the portal, took place on the historical day.

This portal now gives the chance to people to come from different territories and share their stories via simple posts. It is a user friendly portal that could be used even by a person with the little internet know-how.
